PTR Live When is Mist Coming?
I know there are many out there who will argue that Mist of Pandaria wont be out until some point in November. I disagree and to back up my claim to why I believe this, I put together a little chart for you. This charge shows what I think will happen, this is base off research from past releases, the beta and just how things go.
To be honest with you, I’d be the first person to admit being wrong if some reason Mist of Pandaria doesn’t come out until November. I’ve told people who I felt Mist was going to be coming out at some point between the end of August or in September. That was months ago, but today I can say that I feel that Mist will launch at some point between September 18th 2012 and September 25th 2012.
No matter what, Mist will launch on a Tuesday, given the past, generally speaking and I recall this from when Cataclysm hit the PTR, it was about a month of it being on the PTR, I recall this, it was about 3 weeks or so. Maybe it was shorter, if I’m wrong and it was only 2 weeks of testing, then that means Mist will be out even sooner than the 18th.

Taking a look at the chart, you can see two color sections. The first light blue is the PTR testing, which last between Friday July 20th to August 20th, that’s a total of 32 days so just a little over a month. The question of if I think Blizzard needs a full month of PTR testing before putting the patch out. Ideal I think it would only take 3 weeks with the last week everyone knowing the patch will hit.
The next section, color in a red color, shows the Pre-Launch Event Patch. This will be the patch with The Theramore scenario as well all the changes that Mist will bring that players will get without the Mist content such as the new zones and level 85-90 content.
Again the patch would hit ideally on a Tuesday August 21st 2012 and would last until September 17th 2012 which is only 28 days, just little under a month. Some people say that pre-launchs only last 2 weeks. Maybe someone can correct me how long the Cataclysm Pre-launch patch lasted, I seeming recalled not raiding until the Cataclysm pre-patch hit, and I know I raided ICC about 3 weeks before the release.
Taking a look at the data, if the PTR last less than a month, and the Pre-patch is only 2 weeks we could see Mist of Pandaria coming out much sooner. Either way, we’re looking at a September release date. What do you think? Do you think September is too soon? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

I keep reading in comments of blog posts, that stores require 60 days notice after a release date is set. I don’t know how true this is though. If it is true then it could be anytime from Sept 25th onwards. I do think it is closer than November though.

I’ve personally never hard that stores require that long, a November release? Nah… that is far too late and people would end up quitting as a result. I sign up for the Annal Pass a few days after it was announce. It expires right round the end of October, so I would believe blizzard would want to get Mist out before that time frame.
My guess would be that Blizzard already knows when they are releasing it so if there was a 60 day frame, I’m sure they already have things set up to go months ago. Mist isn’t a massive overhaul of the game that Cata was so it doesn’t require so much testing and work.

Uhm – I think an early December release. They have not even announced the collector’s edition yet. Which is usually 3-4 months prior to release.

December? And what shall they be doing from now to then? Yeah they will be releasing it soon, not later I could be wrong but releasing it that late int he year would be kind of one of those the heck moments.

So you did get it right, it is 60 days after the announcement though

Yeah I suppose, I wasn’t aware of the 60 days for stores, but I knew at least a month. Either way, I pretty much called this months ago when I said it would be a mid to late September release. I wrote this post to simply prove why I believe that was to be the case and as it turns out I was pretty much right, so we’ll have if all goes to plan, a month at least of the pre-patch, I don’t think PTR will last longer then a month. That is given however it all goes smoothly too.

I read this a few days ago and was quite surprised it hit when you said it would. Good job.

Hehe lucky guess on my part. But now that I know they need to make the announcement 60 days before release, next one I’ll be able to figure out spot on.
